The Zoo

I'd love to go to the zoo in the holiday. Not only is it good exercise but I would get to see my three favourite animals which are, the monkeys, tigers, and penguins. Unfortunately, from my house the drive is long to any zoo.

I've heard National Zoo is a good place to see monkeys. Not to mention, baboons, chimpanzees, and orang utans. I like spider monkeys the best because they have little white faces, a lot of energy, and they are so cute. They have long think tails that they use really well to get around. They eat bananas with both hands and chase each other and make me laugh. After the monkey display comes the large cat area.

This area is where the tigers are. They are very rare and beautiful. They're finally a protected species. I could look at them all day seeing as how they are so majestic. They look so relaxed but are really very dangerous. They are definitely not your common pet house cat. Not far from the cat house is the bear display. Next we enter down into a cave that goes along the bottom and side of a tank. Part of the display is open with arctic decor and there i see my favourite of all the creatures, the penguins. There is a cool mist falling from the ceiling and the temperature is regulated to stay cold. People have a part they can walk through to see their habitat without disturbing their colony. The best part is the way they walk around with their little flippers out and waddle. Then they go to the edge of the land and jump into the blue tank where we can see them glide so gracefully. Oh, it's lunch time and my mother says it’s time to go home.

It’s been a wonderful morning at the zoo experiencing the wonders of nature that god has put on the earth for us to enjoy. It's also been tiring, I’m glad my mother driving home so I can have a nap on my ride home.
