Failing a test

I had been neglecting my school work for a couple of weeks because I was too engrossed in watching television. I thought I was pretty good in mathematics and could handle the test that our teacher had set for us.

I was wrong. When the paper was handed out to us on that Monday morning, I knew I was in trouble. I could not do most of the problems. Anyhow I did my best and hoped that I would pass.

My hope came to nothing. When the teacher handed back our papers two days later, I only received 32 marks. I had failed the mathematics test! This was the first time I failed a mathematics test. My teacher was shocked, my classmates were shocked and I was shocked. Luckily it was just a monthly test and the marks would not be shown on my report card, otherwise I would certainly have to face the wrath of my parents.

Failing the test made me realise that I could not afford to neglect my school work. It did not matter how good I was in any subject. If I did not do my work diligently, then I would fail again.

Now I make sure I finish all my school work before doing anything else, including watching television. Watching television is fun, but it is not as important as school work. I do not want to fail any test again.
